Saturday 30th June, 2001
Greenwich, London
This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening of entertainment, food and expert
opinion about the world evoked so brilliantly by Patrick O'Brian. If you
can't make the entire Lubber's London Tour , here is a chance to catch a small
part of it.
Refreshments including grog and ship's biscuits will be followed by a 45
minute recital from the Becket Quartet, leader Liz MacCarthy. She has
selected several pieces that Jack and Stephen enjoyed and they will be
played on instruments of the period from The Becket Collection at the Royal
Academy of Music.
After the recital, dinner will be served. The menu will include
Swordfish Soup, Lobscouse, Boiled Baby, Custard and, of course, coffee.
Then Mr Steven E. Maffeo will address the party with his insights into the
real world of intelligence in the age of Nelson's Navy. Steven is Associate
Director of Libraries, U.S. Air Force Academy, and his book Most Secret and
Confidential , Chatham Publishing, has been lauded. Analyst and author Norman Polmar has rated it one of the top three naval-maritime books of the year.
Cost: £90 per person.
This includes refreshments before the concert and wine with the meal.
There are 25 tickets available for this inaugural Evening Occasion but they must be ordered in advance.
